Born in San Francisco and raised on the Central Coast of California, Kalman discovered architecture, nature and swimming as his passions. He attended the Illinois Institute of Technology on swim scholarship and stayed in Chicago for six years. After a year working on corporate interiors with IA Interior Architects in San Francisco, he realized his true calling was for single family projects. He then spent two years working with Charlie Barnett & Associates, focusing on high end single family residential projects from wine country through San Francisco and down the peninsula to Hillsborough, Woodside and Atherton.
After two years of working with CBA, Kalman broke off to being his career as an independent designer. He currently freelances with two boutique landscape design build firms in San Francisco and takes on residential interior remodels and landscape projects spanning from Sonoma/Napa to San Luis Obispo.
